Electric Radio Controlled Trucks Guide

Learn About Electric Powered R/C Trucks

The main difference between electric radio controlled trucks and r/c nitro trucks is the the battery pack that electric rc trucks must carry on board.

Instead of fuel, these rc trucks run on battery power. (Note that rc gas powered trucks still need batteries on board to run their servos)

Here are the basics to get you started.

I have found the best prices and selection on this rc truck (and others) here.

Rechargeable NiCd Battery Pack:

You will need at least one rechargeable NiCd battery pack for your r/c truck. Check to see if the remote control truck you are buying comes with a battery pack included, otherwise you will have to purchase one in addition to the truck. In order to avoid downtime when recharging your battery, you may want to pick up two or three battery packs so that one can be charging while you are playing!

Battery Recharger:

Batteries typically charge in about 20 minutes with most battery rechargers. Again, check to make sure your r/c truck comes with one included in the pack.

2 Channel Radio System (transmitter, on board receiver, servos):

The transmitter is what you hold in your hand to controls the radio controlled trucks speed and direction. The pistol grip transmitter is the most popular.

The on board receivers get the signal from the transmitter and send that signal to the mechanical servos which perform the actual physical commands. With electric radio controlled trucks you will not need a separate battery for the receivers as they run right off of the main battery pack.

Electric radio controlled trucks are started with an electric starter, and tend to be an excellent option for beginner hobbyists or those who do not want to deal with the "mess" of fuel. Hey, to each their own.

Here is where I recommend you find guaranteed in stock radio controlled tucks and cars.
